3 Things to Help Build Your Social Media Platform

By Sandy Lawrence on November 1, 2017 in Social Media

What is social media? Social media is composed of websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Think Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Social Media Platform

I love social media! It is great for connecting with authors, speakers, entrepreneurs, family, and friends. Rarely does a day go by that I do not use some form of social media.

Many people consider social media a time waster. It sure can suck you in and eat your time if you let it. So you have to be strategic in its use.

Aimee and I have been discussing social media in our online course. One of the things you need to do before you invest much time into social media is  who you want to reach.

Three Questions To Ask Yourself

Three questions to ask about your avatar or ideal customer:

1. Who are they?

What do they like? What do they spend money on?  Where do they live?  Are they a parent, grandparent, or are they retired or self-employed?  You need to know your avatar.  Know him/her like a friend.

2. Where are they?

What social media do they use?  Are they on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter?   What about Pinterest or Instagram?

A successful business owner knows that to get the most from your social media time and efforts, you must identify where your market is located and cater to them.

3. Who else is serving this audience?

How are they serving?  What do they offer?  How often do they post? What types of posts are they making?   What will make you stand out?

You want to be the one people remember!

In our next few posts, we will be discussing how to make your posts on social media stand out and get noticed.  Stop back in a couple days to get the details.
