Today is National Read Across America Day, often known as Dr. Seuss Day. Students and adults all across America are reading their favorite books today.
I love to read and I have many favorite books. My top three books are:
The Bible – With estimated total sales of over 5 billion copies, the Bible is widely considered to be the best-selling book of all time. It has estimated annual sales of 100 million copies, and has been a major influence on literature and history. If you haven’t taken the time to read the Bible, you might want to consider placing it on your list of book titles to read.
Overwhelmed – Kathi Lipp and Cheri Gregory want to show you five surprising reasons why you become stressed, why social media solutions don’t often work, and how you can finally create a plan that works for you. I found I could relate to this book in so many ways and I’m reading it a second time. Kathi and Cheri show you can simplify and savor your life—guilt free! Clutter, tasks, and relationships may overwhelm you now, but God can help you overcome with grace.
Any book by Mark Batterson – Mark has written a number of books I enjoyed, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day, Chase the Lion, All In, Wild Goose Chase and more.
I have several favorite authors, usually not books. If I find an author I love, then all the books by them are my favorites.
I will spend the evening of National Read Across America Day as part of a book study group discussing Overwhelmed. Then before going to bed, I will spend some time reading the Bible.
What are your favorite books and how will you celebrate National Read Across America Day?
